Anderson Flats

Description:

First identified in March of this year, this is one of the most extensive spreads of garlic mustard we have seen to date in our area. Most of the most densely formed growth is in the highlighted area of the photograph but it is sparsely scattered throughout most of the parcels in the flats. A fairly thick clustering of it shows up on the road shoulder on the hill leading into the flats.

The area behind the parking for the public access has garlic mustard widely spread but sparse and intermittently. This runs all the way from the parking area to the flooded woodlot to the west. Some spots are starting to form dense cluster. Most this area is 'carpeted' with first year seedlings.

  1. Do you know who the Anderson was for whom this was named? I've seem some Andersons in Cedar Springs edited the local paper and an Oakfield Civil War Veteran.
